You are cordially invited to the Unveiling of Ottawa’s Irish Famine Memorial at Macdonald Gardens Park – Part of the Global Irish Famine Way.

  • Where: Macdonald Gardens Park, Ottawa, ON K1N 1E6 (Near the corner of Cobourg and Tormey Streets)
  • When: Saturday, June 14, 2025, 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM

This memorial honours the Irish Famine refugees who journeyed to Canada in search of safety and a new life.  Many who arrived in Bytown (Ottawa) were laid to rest in what is now Macdonald Gardens Park, making this site a place of deep historical significance.

Reception

Following the unveiling, a reception will be held at Saint Brigid’s Centre for the Arts (310 St. Patrick St., Entrance on Cumberland St., Ottawa, ON K1N 5K4), where guests are invited to continue the conversation and commemorate this important event.
